It is easy for an astrophysicist to gain inspiration in his work. He merely needs to step out and look at the night sky.
...until I stepped out tonight and got hit full on the face by the -20 Centigrade wind.

Young man, as you yourself wrote,
astronomy is a small community.
I don't want to depress you further, but do you think anybody will ever give you a job after you post such depressing stuff?
Last year you already managed to upset a bunch of insecure Harvard
faculty with your negative comments about your trip there
posted on your blog.
But now this is way worse:
"However, I've just discovered an interesting fact: so long as I pass my courses in the first two years, and squeeze out at least one paper out of the 3 or 4 research projects in that time, I can't actually get kicked out, and hopefully I will be able to pass my General Exams in the end of the 2nd year."
I now you are struggling, but with
an attitude like that nobody will ever want to touch you.
Here is a good advice for you - buy a paper notebook and write in it. When you become famous (unlikely), then you can try to publish your "deep thoughts".
